A Special Easter Activity

This year I decided the kids were old enough to understand
the significance behind making the traditional
Easter treat of Resurrection Cookies.
If you're unfamiliar with these sweets,
they're similar to classic "divinity" candy.
But the fun is in the process of making them!
They're a terrific, visual, hands-on tool to help
kids understand the story
of Jesus' death and resurrection.
HERE is a website that provides the recipe
and step-by-step instructions--
there are specific scripture references that correspond
to each stage of the recipe.
It was neat! And I think my kids really "got it"

"Mom, how long DOES it take?"
as they wait for the egg whites to form "stiff peaks"

Reading along:

The "tomb" is sealed overnight:

The next morning, we opened the oven to find out what happened...

And just like Jesus' tomb, the cookies are empty!

Next year, if we're up for the challenge (I don't do well with yeast),
maybe we'll try Hot Cross Buns!
