A Great Day!

Saturday was just one of those relaxing, fun days that make you glad to be alive. This first picture is of my little man heading off with Daddy to work cows with Poppie. This was about 6:30 in the morning so he had his sippy cup and bowl of cereal and boy was he excited to "go to work". Aynsley and I had a leisure morning of coffee and sausage before heading over to Nannie & Poppie's to join the boys for a day of fun and relaxation. Unfortunately, I do not have any pix of the cow-working...it's kinda hard for photography in the chaos of calves being "thrown", etc. But I hear that our T-Man was very "into it".
Tradition is that on cow-working days in the fall,
the guys smoke some venison jerkey, which -as lots of you know- is
a day long kind of project, where you sit around visitin', snackin', checkin' on the fire, etc.

This season is warming up and thus not typical jerky cookin' weather but our jerky stock is low and we love it (the kids REALLY love it) so it was time. Everyone managed to beat the heat with a few swims in Nannie's pool. Nannie's viddles (baked ham and home grown tomatoes, need I say more) followed by a nap, lots and lots of play, good time with family= you just can't ask for a better day. Below are Rod, Poppie, and Uncle Doug checking on the racks of jerky.
