In the early part of 2008, our church started several new link groups (aka Sunday School class),
one of which was ours. Our group has grown to about 6 couples and over the course of the last 18 months, we have grown together leaps & bounds. We share, teach, & learn from one another with lots and lots and lots of laughter in between. When we first started meeting, our room resembled this picture below. We'll call this one the BEFORE picture.
The room assigned to us was home to a huge chalk board, a mattress, a drum set, and various articles of lost clothing. You understand why we decided a make-over was in order!
We got excited about doing the work as a group and one Sunday morning after first service, we all pitched in and "got green together". Apple green that is.
We decided on a particular verse of scripture that reflected the desire of our hearts and were inspired to have it painted on the wall in our newly made over room (Thanks, Renee for using your talents to write it out beautifully!)
Our thought was that each couple would contribute pieces of their life/ home to the remodel so that the room truly represented all of us. So each piece of furniture and many of the doo-dads are our own unique additions. For example, Tim Lethbridge is a gifted photographer (click here to see his work) so these photos of orange blossoms (which are perfect illustrations for Charlie & Doreen too!) were taken by him. He framed them out for our room.
{And it only took us a little more than a year! :-) Guess we wouldn't have lasted on an episode of Trading Spaces or Design on a Dime.}
It's been a fun project and I'm glad it's FINALLY come together. Our goal was to create a cozy nook to gather up and dive into God's Word together - a place to share a cup of coffee while sharing life - a place to "Practice Hospitality." I think we achieved our goal. Love you guys.

Thanks for being so hospitable to Terry and I. We have enjoyed the class. Hopefully we will be able to be there "together" in the future:)
