We had quite a storm this afternoon - wind, blowing rain, lots of thunder and lightning. It woke Aynsley up from her nap and so we snuggled up on the couch under our blankets and watched the rain set in. It was quiet for a while until she looked up and said "Mom, it's raining. Let's make cookies." I laughed out loud.
Maybe it's a Southern thing. Maybe it's a woman thing. Maybe it's something I inherited from the generations of good cooks in my family. But for me, a stormy afternoon sets the mood & is perfect for cookin' up something ..... stirring a pot of soup or chili and/or baking a sweet treat as the weather sets in ---- it's just good for my soul. To have my little girl echo the same sentiment, all on her own, was icing on a sweet cake.
Cookies? Yep, genuine-from "scratch"-chocolate chip cookies. Ice cold milk. Rain pouring down. Does it get any better ?
